Botanical Interests Early Wonder Beet SeedsEarly wonder is considered to be the best beet for greens. The tops can reach 18" tall, giving you plenty of salad greens, greens to substitute for spinach or Swiss chard in recipes, and to steam or freeze for later use. Packed with nutrition, 1 cup of greens has more iron than a hamburger patty! Early Wonder's beet roots are also very flavorful and produce quickly (in as little as 48 days). An excellent choice for northern and southern climates where multiple crops are possible. Grows well in the garden and as a container vegetable. When to plant outside: RECOMMENDED. Early spring, 3-4 weeks before average last frost for an early summer crop AND late summer for a fall crop. Growing during hot temperature periods should be avoided. In frost-free areas, sow in September for February harvest. This packet plants: One 10-foot row (about 10 lbs. of beets). When to start inside: Not recommended. Sow directly outside. Special Germination Instructions: Soak seeds for 24 hours before sowing. Beet seed is actually a dried fruit with 1-5 seeds in each fruit. Therefore, thinning instructions are very important. Plant seed 1" deep and 1" apart. If several seedlings emerge from 1 fruit in the same spot, immediately thin to 1 seedling per 1". After 3-4 weeks, thin to 1 seedling for every 3"-5". Thinned seedlings can be used in that evening's salad. Do not allow a crust to build up on the soil surface which could hamper seedling emergence. Mulch soil after plants are 2" high.

Curtis and Judy met while waiting to interview for the same horticultural job and soon found they shared a boundless enthusiasm for gardening. Botanical Interests began out of their mutual passion and personal desire for better quality seed and more informational tools to help and inpire gardeners.
"We wanted a level of purity and quality that wasn't easy to find," recalls Curtis. So they searched out the highest quality seed available and began their business in 1997, in the spare bedroom of their Colorado home. The business objectives they established then still hold strong for them now: to inspire and educate gardeners; to provide high quality seed to their customers; and to create an enjoyable work place for employees.
Over the years, Judy and Curtis' family has grown along with their line of seeds which now attracts and pleases customers nationwide.
