Castor & Pollux Meaty Center Bone, 7 inchThis Wet Nose Meaty Center Bone is a high quality beef femur bone dipped in natural liquid smoke and baked. Its natural meaty center provides hours of chewing enjoyment! Wet Nose Meaty Bones come from USDA-inspected meat facilities.
These high quality bones do not come from "downer cows"; in fact, it is illegal for these USDA-inspected plants to purchase sub-quality cows. The bones are carefully prepared to ensure they are both safe and tasty. They are dipped in natural liquid smoke and are then baked. Strict guidelines apply to the cooking process to ensure a moist, quality bone that doesn't splinter. The liquid smoke is naturally processed by burning wood inside barrels and condensing the smoke into liquid. The liquid is then packaged and sent out as natural liquid smoke for our bones. We use this method because traditional smoking methods (burning wood chips and sending the smoke into the ovens) does not penetrate the bone. The natural liquid smoke penetrates the bone with extra flavor, is an antioxidant, and fights off bacteria. The bone marrow remaining in the bones helps keep dogs busy and is also a benefit to their coats
It all started with Joey. The adorable lab/pointer mix puppy rescued from the humane society in Toronto. He was an only child for many years and knew how to use many combinations of sad brown eyes, a tail that wagged faster than the wings of a hummingbird, and slobbery kisses to get ANYTHING he wanted. He was good ... really good.
So good that Shelley Gunton and her husband Brian Connolly started a pet food business just to keep him satisfied and healthy. That was 20 years ago.
As Castor & Pollux grows, consistently bringing new all natural and organic pet products to the market, Brian and Shelley won't lose sight of what ultimately brought them here: the love of their pets. The two have made a commitment to community service through their Pet & Soul Foundation and through their support of organizations that work with pets and people for the benefit of both. Guide Dogs for the Blind, Project Pooch, AniMeals, and many other deserving animal support groups all benefit from the company's dedication to the well-being of pets. Brian and Shelley are also active as volunteers in their communities - in the schools, in sports, and in a variety of support organizations. But it all started with Joey.
