Organic EDEN Whole Leaf Dulse is Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) certified organic and sustainably hand harvested from April through September. Dulsers travel to the island in dories and harvest at low tide. The fronds are spread over nets held up by large flat stones on the beach to dry. The summer sun and sea breeze do their job in about a day and a half reducing moisture to 12 to 15 percent. Allergen notice: This product may contain trace amounts of shellfish.
Dulse Palmaria palmata is a red sea vegetable that grows on rocks in the cold waters along the northern coasts of both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It has been harvested for centuries as valuable food rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and iodine by coastal peoples of North America and Northern Europe. In Ireland, Scotland, and Wales dulse is used to prepare oatmeal soups, hot porridges, breads, and as a seasoning for meals.
Use Organic EDEN Whole Leaf Dulse in salad, soup, chowder, stew, on sandwiches, in stir-fries, dips, hot porridge, and in bread/pizza dough and baked goods, such as scones, Irish soda bread, and biscuits. Chop and sprinkle pieces on top of pizza before baking. Oven toast at 350° about 5 to 7 minutes for a crispy snack. It is a refreshing and nutritious snack food right out of the package.
