Frontier Organic Fair Trade Cacao NibsCacao nibs are the partially ground cacao beans that are the source of all natural chocolate products. They have a crunchy texture and intense flavor. They make a wonderful addition to trail mixes. They are also delicious sprinkled on yogurt, ice cream or in brownie mixes. After harvesting, the fresh cocoa beans are removed from the cocoa fruit. The beans are then fermented, dried, cleaned, pre-roasted, broken, and cleaned again. The nibs are made by roasting and breaking the cocoa beans into its naturally grown segments which are about 1 to 3 mm in diameter. The nibs are cleaned and calibrated. They can then be used in various baking applications as a crunchy cocoa ingredient. Gluten Free. Product of Peru.
