Hazelnut Biscotti


Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2  cup  Organic Unbleached White Flour
  • 1  teaspoon  anise seed
  • 1/2  cup  coarsely ground hazelnuts
  • 1/4  teaspoon  salt
  • 1 1/2  teaspoon  baking powder
  • 2  tablespoon  unsalted butter
  • 1/2  cup  sugar
  • 1/4  cup  honey, warmed
  • 1  each  egg
  • 1  teaspoon  vanilla
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease one large baking sheet. Combine first five ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, sugar, honey, egg and vanilla until smooth. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Roll and shape each ball of dough into a 12" log, place 4-5" apart on baking sheet and flatten slightly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until firm. When cool, cut logs diagonally into 1/2" slices. Place slices on baking sheet 1/2" apart and return to oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
